Prodigy Movement Inc. was born from the profound grief and enduring love of a father, Prentis Bannerman, following the tragic loss of his 20-year-old son, KyWaun, to gun violence in March 2023. This life-shattering event transformed a personal tragedy into a powerful mission to protect and empower other young people in rural Southeastern North Carolina. Driven by the memory of KyWaun’s bright promise a potential that was often strained by the very inequities facing under-resourced youth Prentis Bannerman founded the organization to build the robust support system that too many marginalized young adults never receive. Today, the movement serves as a living legacy, dedicated to ensuring that a young person's future is defined by mentorship, opportunity, and community strength.
