Hello, I am Prentis Bannerman, CEO and president of Prodigy Movement Inc. This young man in the cap and gown is Kywaun. My son, one of the pride and joys of my life. He was so smart and had so many things going for him in his life. He was headed for a promising bright future. Then pressure and wrong influence got to my boy, and he headed down the wrong path for a while, but with constant conversation and prayer, he started to see and understand that all the potential he had he was not applying to his life. Now he was on his way, talking more positively and making plans for his future. I was so overjoyed, to say the least. Then, on March 27, 2023, I received the worst phone call of my life. My 20-year-old son was murdered due to gun violence. I miss him and wake up every day hoping that this is one big, horrible nightmare, but sadly, I wake up every morning to the same pain of never seeing his bright smile ever again, never feeling one of his warm hugs, and his phone call that I got every day ending with Daddy, I love you. It was all taken from me in the blink of an eye. Even though life seemed like it really wasn't on my side, now I have turned my pain into motivation, drive and ambition. I want to change the world one day at a time so we can save our kids and generations to come, show them the way and show them that we care. I want no parent to feel what his mother and I still feel to this day. I tried to save my son's life and I couldn't, so I'm striving to save someone else's.
